Wye Walley’s Butty Bach  and Hereford Pale Ale


Two very popular brews from the local Wye Valley Brewery, Herefordshire.

Butty Bach is Welsh term meaning ‘little friend’ and is 4.5% ABV.  This full-bodied, smooth and satisfying premium ale is burnished gold in colour, and certainly has made a few friends in its time – including the judges at The Great Welsh Beer Festival, where it has been crowned ‘Beer of the Festival’ on three occasions!  It is brewed using Maris Otter and Crystal malts, flaked barley, malted wheat, and locally grown Fuggles, Goldings and Bramling Cross hops. With such fine ingredients, no wonder it remains a firm favourite with The Bell’s locals.

Hereford Pale Ale aka HPA

HPA is a truly delightful pale ale 4.0% ABV. It’s smooth on the palate, and boasts a citrus hop aroma leading to a balanced bitter finish.  Locally grown Target and Celeia hops play an important part in making this such a distinctive beer. With Maris Otter pale malt and malted wheat also being used, this is very much a pale ale with all the right ingredients and another favourite with The Bell’s guests.


From the independent Wickwar Brewing Company in Gloucestershire. Located between Bristol and Gloucester, this traditional brew house has been brewing since the 1860s using only the best ingredients to provide real ales steeped in quality and heritage.

Saved By The Bell

The Bespoke Brewing Company is a traditional brewery in the Forest of Dean producing high quality, award winning beer.   Aptly named, this is a light refreshing beer with a spicy hop bite and a light floral aroma from the late hop addition. Light, hoppy forest bitter 3.8% abv.

Apple County Cider

Winners of the Golden Fork for Wales in the Great Taste Awards 2015 and 2016, the McConnel family has been growing cider apples in orchards just down the valley from us at Whitehouse Farm since 1969, and started making its own brand in 2006.  Varieties such as Brown Snout and Vilberie Apples are used to make a delicious farmhouse, slightly sparkling, organic cider which is sold in bottles and very popular!  The family has a fantastic farm shop at Whitehouse Farm where you can buy its ciders and is open 7 days from 10am to 6pm.  Order your picnic from The Bell and take one of the Whitehouse Farm Orchard Walks.

Fentimans Ginger Beer

Fentimans has been making natural botanical drinks for over 100 years.  Botanical brewing is a time-honoured technique of making superior quality beverages using a combination of infusion, skilful blending and fermentation of natural ingredients.  We love its traditionally brewed Ginger Beer with a complex taste. It is made with the finest natural ginger root and is fiery and full of flavour.  ABV nil!
