Situated in the beautiful county of Monmouthshire, The Bell at Skenfrith, a former 17th century Welsh coaching inn and now one of Wales’s most renowned boutique hotels, was completely restored in 2001 and updated in 2015 by the new owners, Richard and Sarah – an ongoing job! Carefully and thoughtfully decorated, the polished flagstone floors, oak beams and antique furniture, coupled with contemporary comfy sofas and chairs and fresh flowers, give The Bell at Skenfrith its relaxing and easy atmosphere. There are eleven individually designed bedrooms, all with bathrooms en suite and British Noble Isle toiletries, the contents of which are all grown in the UK and the beetroot used is grown in our kitchen garden.
Overlooking the beautiful River Monnow, The Bell at Skenfrith is on the outskirts of the tiny Welsh village of Skenfrith. With an award-winning restaurant and wine list, it is the ideal place for romantic breaks, special occasions, intimate weddings (we have our own marquee which can be tailored to your requirements) anniversaries/celebrations, country pursuits .
Monmouthshire is renowned for its variety of walks. The Bell has created six of its own, individual circular walks which guide the walker in and around the Skenfrith area, at times crossing the border into England and back; no passport required! One, The Skenfrith Sleuth, is an extremely popular Children’s Walk where they can search for clues and answers about the history of Skenfrith Castle – one of the famous Marches castles, the local medieval church St. Bridget’s and Skenfrith village, situated just across the road from The Bell. This is an ideal family activity, especially at half-term or during the school holidays. For budding astronomers, on a clear night, our Skenfrith Sky is never diminished by orange light!
Whatever your reason for visiting,The Bell’s staff will always welcome you and help to make your visit a memorable one. Please note that there is free wifi but mobile signals can be a bit erratic!

One thing we are not short of at The Bell at Skenfrith is outside space. We are surrounded by the most beautiful and unspoiled Welsh countryside. We have a large garden with a terrace for al fresco dining, a working kitchen garden with fresh herbs, vegetables and fruit. We also have a pretty flower garden, as well as a special area for our own marquee that can be booked for weddings and special occasions.
Beyond the garden, across the foot path is our meadow garden where you can take a picnic and enjoy the view.
